I've been on a 4-month cycle of Lupron injections without interruption since November 2009, two month's preceding the start of proton radiation. PSA and testosterone readings to the present have remained well within the range of optimum control. The most noticeable side-effects have been been hot flashes and night sweats. These are sporadic episodes of two to four times daily with each lasting about ten to 15 minutes. Weight control is also an issue that I am controlling to some extent with a careful choice of food. Other effects have been less noticeable to me, but my wife (who is in better position to observe) claims that I am more affected with fatigue and stress. I have broached the subject of continuous use of Lupron with Dr. Lee in concern for becoming refractive. Because of the advanced stage of my prostate cancer preceding radiation, Gleason 9, PSA 12, he advises it would be too risky to stop. It would appear, then, that Lupron and I will have an uneasy relationship for as many years as it remains effective in the control of my cancer.

Gene, thanks for letting us know how you're doing. Legionaire Dave has been especially busy because of tax season but I'm planning to see him today and will point out that you've posted a note.
I've been spending quite a bit of time on the Ask Dr. Myers site and learned that he had a diagnosis 10 years ago of an advanced stage including lymph node involvement. I understood you to say that you think highly of his work. Dr. Myers under Dattoli's care received external radiation and hormone therapy, plus a serious change in life style. He has managed very well over the last 10 or so years and since he's been on hormone treatment for quite a while, I'm wondering what he would say about the continuous hormone treatment. In a 10 minute video titled Plans for Dr. Myers's Clinic, he describes his history. http://askdrmyers.wordpress.com/
Looking forward to seeing you and Evie in May.Posted 1 year ago #
